Love

So this past month I have attended two weddings and must say they have really gotten me thinking. No I haven't been thinking of why I am still single but I have been thinking of the concept of Love.

1Corinthians 13:4
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

Yes of course when it comes down to it we will say that we will show that sort of love to our husband our wife when in reality many times we do not. What has been on my mind though lately is that we, the body of Christ seem to only think of those verses in regards to marriage.

John 13:34-35
34"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Here Jesus is clearly telling us that we are not to just submit ourselves to our spouse as Christ did the Church but it is Jesus telling us to let the world know that we are different and we have found the light. Just go out show some love stop being envious of others or boasting when we are in the right, begin to become humble and show a care for those around us. Love them and allow them to recognize that the spirit is living within us.

Engage

Many in our generation love the idea of being able to help out with social justice however there is just so much need in the world that we live in that it is often difficult to figure out where it is that we should start.

Childrens Cup has come up with a simple solution. It is called Engage. Through the engage program Childrens Cup will have opportunities for people to help the AIDS orphans in Africa but more importantly not just opportunities for yourself but opportunities to get your friends and family involved as well.

The Call

Many of us in this day and age think that being a missionary is going to the other end of the world and reaching out to people who do not even speak our own language. Though our call is to go out to the nations many of us are part of a nation that is lost. Therefore we must start at home and look around to see what God puts in our hearts. If you feel that you are not called to go overseas then great, go visit your nextdoor neighbor and offer garden work or a meal.

If you feel called to go overseas and reach the unreached than praise God for putting that in your heart but remember the title missionary does not start once you get off that plane in the far off land. God has called us to reach out and what better way to go to the unreached nations than having the experience of working with the unreached in your own neighborhood.

My prayer today is that we will all start to make the world a better place but that we realize the world becoming a better place starts now with our everyday lives and that we do not need to go thousands of miles away to tell of the good news.
